What To Expect

Day 1 starts with a 1:00 pm meet up at our fly shop in Buena Vista. You will meet your guide and load your personal items into their vehicle, then travel to the river put-in where you will begin your first leg of the trip float fishing down to camp. There's no better time to be on the water than late afternoon in the summer!  We see increased caddis activity that peaks at the "Golden Hour," and you'll be in the thick of it!

Once at camp you will settle in with amazing views from your riverside tent.  After you are worn out from fishing, you can warm yourself around the campfire with a drink in hand to watch the moon rise over the river.  Enjoy a steak dinner before settling in to your tent and drifting off to sleep listening to the river gently flow by.

Day 2, choose from our list of trip offerings that meet your adventure level. Many people chose to continue float fishing down through Browns Canyon National Monument. This a fun-filled class 3 whitewater section and a spectacular place to float fish for the adventurous group. Known for its world class whitewater, this popular section of river sees less fishing pressure but high boat traffic. We have many sections of the river we can float that are slower paced.

Another popular option for day two is to head for the high country. Our Alpine Lake 4x4 Adventure never disappoints. Ride up the trail and spend the day above the tree line chasing native cutthroat trout in what feels like another world!

We can end the adventure there, or ask about spending another night with us in camp and leave the next morning. If you would like to add more days of adventure we would love to have you, just let us know and you can plan two, three, or even four nights with us. There are endless fly fishing opportunities near Buena Vista!
