Mt. Elbert Forebay

Just above twin lakes, the Mt. Elbert Forebay is an impoundment that gets water from Turquoise Reservoir and is used in conjunction with the twin lakes power plant for hydroelectric generation. Despite constantly fluctuating levels, this fishery holds rainbow trout, the occasional large brown trout, and lake trout. The lake trout here can grow very large. Fish from shore or hand-launch smaller watercraft to target these fish.
