Chalk Creek

Fishing Info

Chalk Creek starts near the ghost town of St. Elmo and flows between Mt. Princeton and Antero, eventually feeding into the Arkansas River near Nathrop, CO. Because it runs beneath the chalk cliffs of Mt. Princeton, on occasion, with high flows the creek can turn a milky white. Normally this small stream boasts incredible fishing for mostly brown and rainbow trout.

Current Conditions

With the majority of runoff now lower down in the system, flows are settling, and the water is clearing up. Fishing in these small tributaries right now should be very good.
