Fishing Info

Lake Creek starts up near independence pass and flows down into Twin Lakes. The upper stretches from La Plata trailhead and up offer stellar small stream fishing with many small brook trout. After La Plata Trailhead, Lake Creek picks up mineral runoff leading to lower insect abundance and therefore lower fish populations. After twin lakes, the creek quickly feeds into the Arkansas River.

Current Conditions

With runoff and colder temps, fishing may be tough. As flows drop, and temps stay warm, the fishing will get good for the summer.
